Lorraine Thomson
Lorraine lives and works in London, ON. Lorraine grew up loving the arts and was always creating and drawing. This progressed throughout school although initially she put it aside during post–secondary education for a career in nursing.
Over time though, the need to create art returned stronger than ever, necessitating a change in career paths. She has a wide variety of interests and creates artwork in many different mediums including watercolour, acrylic, encaustic, textiles, sculptures as well as pencil, ink and Zentangle. She works in many styles and with different subject matter including commissioned portraits and paintings of animals, houses etc. Please contact her regarding commission work.
She graduated with an Honours Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Western Ontario in 2011. Her installation entitled “Entanglement” from her graduating exhibition was chosen for the juried Forest City Gallery Exhibition Opportunity Award which allowed her to be part of a group show at Forest City Galley. She was also chosen for the “pARTners: a collaboration” touring exhibit through the Ontario Society of Artists where she and 10 other emerging artists were paired with an established artist to learn and work together on projects which toured several Southern Ontario cities in 2011/2012.
She is now very happy to be following her heart’s dream of being a professional contemporary visual artist after a successful 20 year career as a nurse practitioner. She is teaching basic drawing and Zentangle and is also part of the London Studio Tour in April 2015.
